Cumbrian Sky watercolor
I am finding more and more that I really enjoy painting skies in watercolor. Here is an example. Started by wetting all over then adding a graded wash ultramarine, going to turquoise and cadmium orange. Then while wet lifting out with kitchen paper the whites of the clouds. Then with careful timing adding darker shadows while damp to encourage soft edges. Finally adding a simple range of hills to establish the scene.
